Muriel (Undlin) Guidinger, 91, Minot, died Monday, February 28, 2005, in a Minot nursing home.
Muriel was born April 20, 1913, at the family homestead near Lansford. She is the youngest of five children born to Martin and Julia (Lewison) Undlin.
She attended Lockwood School graduating in 1931. She received her Standard Teaching Certificate in 1933 from Minot State Teachers College. She then taught at rural schools in Renville and Ward counties for nine years.
She married Lyle Guidinger in Donnybrook, ND, on June 17, 1940. They lived in Kenmare from 1940 to 1951, when they moved to Minot. Lyle passed away April 25, 1961. In 1967 Muriel earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Minot State College. She returned to teaching at Longfellow School where she taught until her retirement.
Muriel loved traveling and traveled extensively, visiting most of the states. Her grandchildren loved her visits because she enjoyed games and cards as much as they did. Cooking and gardening were other hobbies she enjoyed, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and was very active in church groups, including ladies aid, circle and quilting.
Survivors: Daughter, Adell (Larry) Lium of Ellensburg, WA; sons, Don (Linda) Guidinger, Minot, and Loren (Cheryl) Guidinger, Lansford; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Joel Lium, Ellensburg, WA, Alison (Ron) Mendelsohn and their daughter, Laurin, of Arlington, TX, Guy (Kara) Guidinger and their daughter, Jadyn of Randleman, NC, and Grant (Jennifer) Guidinger, Minot; sister-in-law, Jean Limke, Lansford; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; parents, Martin and Julia Undlin; brothers, Joey and Raymond Undlin, and sister, Nettie Undlin Boraas.
Funeral: Friday, March 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, from noon to 7:00 p.m., in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Note of intrest* | | She Served in the US Coast Guard during WW2. She also worked for Allis Chalmers in West Allis as a secretary after the war. She married Lester Baumann and lived for a time in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. They moved to Evansville Wisconsin in the late 1950's. They operated the local hardware store in town until Lester's death in 1964. Helen moved to the Bowler area and began teaching school. In 1967 she married Gene Forsythe whom she had known through her brother Ted. Helen and Gene moved to Shawano and Helen began teaching at the Shawano high school. They lived across the street from the school on Evergreen Drive. At retirement they sold that house and moved to a location on Shawano lake (STH 22) between Cecil and Shawano. Helen suffered numerous strokes and was cared for by Gene at their home. 22 OCT 2002. |

Helen S. Forsythe, 82, formerly of W5526 State Highway 22, Town of Washington, Shawano, passed away Sunday, October 1 3, 2002 at Heartland Health Care Center in Shawano where she had been a resident for the past three months. Helen was born February 6, 1920, in Iron River, Wis., daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Brilla) Viskoe.
She attended the Ashland Schools and following graduation attended UW-Whitewater where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education. Following graduation she taught in Tripoli, Wis. for a year and then entered the United States Coast Guard and served during WW II. Upon returning from the service, she moved to Milwaukee where she was employed at the Allis Chalmers Company. Helen married Les Baumann and the couple moved to Evansville where they owned and operated the Western Auto Store. Mr. Baumann preceded her in death in 1964. Following her husband’s death she moved to Shawano where she taught school in Bowler and later for many years, in Shawano. On June 17, 1967 she was united In marriage to Gene Forsythe In Delta, Wis. The couple has lived in Shawano since their marriage. Helen retired from the Shawano Gresham School district in 1982. Helen enjoyed fishing, canning vegetables from her garden, hosting Christmas Eve at her home and spending New Years 'Up North.'
Survivors include her husband Gene, Town of Washington; two sisters: Jennie (Gil) Guidinger and Irene (Vernie) Ellestad both of MiIwaukee; two brothers: Phillip (Jolene) Viskoe of North Branch, Minn. and Ted Viskoe of Iron River, Wis; numerous nieces, nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, two sisters- in-law and one brother- in-law.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 17, at 11 a.m. at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano with Father Len Evers, officiating. Interment is scheduled for Friday, October 18 at 1p.m. at St.Florian Catholic Cemetery in Ino, Wis. Friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. on 13 October 2002 at Shawano, Shawano, Wisconsin, USA. |

Obit* | 11 December 2024 | Joanne “Jennie” Louise Guidinger (nee Viskoe), passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 100 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, WI.
Jennie was born on April 29, 1924, on the family farm in Ino, Wisconsin to Joseph and Mary Ann Viskoe (nee Brilla). She grew up on the Viskoe farm with her mom and other siblings, helping to keep the family farm, after her dad Joseph died from pneumonia in 1937 when she was 13. Jennie would often speak about chasing cows, chickens and whatever needed chasing into the barn before and after school. She moved to Milwaukee during her teen years and lived with her sister Helen. Jennie worked at Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee and Allis Chalmers in West Allis during World War 2. She was a valued employee at the Chalet Motel in Mequon from 1963 until 1990 working first as a maid and later as waitress in the coffee shop.
In the late 1940’s she met Gilbert Guidinger at the Nightingale Ball Room in Menomonee Falls, where they enjoyed dancing to polka music often provided by Louie Bashell, Six Fat Dutchmen or Guy Lombardo. Jennie and Gilbert were married on May 6, 1950, at Saint John’s Lutheran church in Mequon. They raised their sons, Randy and Jeff on the family farm (homesteaded in 1851) in Mequon. In 1994 they sold the farm and built a new home in the Town of Cedarburg.
Jennie is survived by her sons Randall (Marcie) of Saukville and Jeffrey (Patricia) of Cedarburg; grandchildren Andrew (Keri) of Cedarburg, Joel (Sarah) of Port Washington, Jennifer (Ryan) Stauss of Mequon and Robert (Allyson) of Woodbury MN; great-grandchildren Cameron, Adela, Oliver, Grayson, Ava, Georgia and Lukas. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, siblings; Margaret, Joseph, Evelyn (Eva), Helen, Phillip, Irene, Theodore.

Ted was born November 25, 1927 in Ino, the 8th child to Joseph Viskoe and Mary (Brilla) also of Ino. Following the untimely death of his father Joseph, Ted went to work as a ships cook on the Ore boats on Lake Superior, where he worked his way up as an oiler with the Merchant Marines.
Prior to his enlistment in the Army in 1945, Ted worked for Inland Steel on the L. E. Block. Upon completion of basic training, Ted was assigned to the 42nd (Rainbow) infantry division as a map reader. In 1946, Ted was selected and sent to a classified European Theater Intelligence School where he was taught the Russian language and culture. Upon his completion of the school, Ted was reassigned the 42nd as Technical Sergeant. He was honorably discharged from the Army in summer of 1947.
Following his return home, Ted worked at the Delta Brook Trout Fish Hatchery and later on became trained to become a Welder. As a certified welder with The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America he worked on numerous projects; the last two projects Ted worked on before retirement was the construction of the Duluth Papermill and the Bong Bridge. Ted served on the Delta Town Board in a number of capacities over the years, including Town Supervisor.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Helen, in 1993. His parents Joseph and Mary (Brilla), siblings Joseph, Margaret, Eva, Helen, Phillip and Irene.
He is survived by sister Joanne (Jenny) Guidinger, daughter D. Alicia Viskoe, granddaughter April MacNeill (Garland), and two great grandchildren Hunter (Active duty USN) and Lauryn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
The family would like to thank Bayfield County Human Services, The Oaks of Washburn, and Regional Hospice for all of their help and support. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in the name of Ted Viskoe to either the St. Florian Catholic Church or the Iron River VFW Post #10197.
